AP Class VS Elective Class

Hi everyone! Thanks for your help.

I am a junior in high school who is highly interested in biology and who hopes to pursue a career in medicine. Currently, I have the option of taking either an AP Biology course or a Medical Physiology elective (which also makes me eligible for a hospital internship later in the year). I am not sure which class to take, as both are of great interest to me and, as far as I know, are of the same difficulty. Ultimately, I think the final decision might come down to which is most beneficial in the college admissions process, but I look forward to hearing your opinions.

Definitely AP Biology. Better for college admissions, and better for pre-med preparation.

But wouldn’t you want the hospital internship?

Right, I definitely think that is an advantage of taking the Medical Physiology elective, especially because of the hands-on experience. I’m still really not sure which is the right decision.

I’d take AP Bio. It is a known quantity to colleges and would be certainly be considered as a rigorous course.

Is there a equivalent or similar course to Medical Physiology at your local community college? Maybe you can take that course at your local CC (over the summer?) and take the AP Biology at your high school.

Why not take both? Explain to your GC what your goal is - maybe they can help with arranging your schedule to take both.
