AP Classes: 4 or 5 Junior Year

AP Classes: 4 or 5 Junior Year
OK, I have a few days left to choose my courses at a competitive high school in California
I was wondering if 1 less ap course makes an impact on college. I am interested in science and a apart of NHS. I feel that if I take 5 AP classes I will not be able to get as many A’s as I would like.
4 AP schedule
AP Chem
AP Spanish 4
AP Calc BC
APUSH
Reg Junior english
Digital Art
vs 5 Ap
AP Chem
AP Spanish 4
AP Calc BC
APUSH
Reg Junior english
AP Psycology

You can always push AP Psych to senior year. Don’t cause yourself to get bad grades if you can’t handle the courseload.

Your first schedule is actually better. The second one looks like padding. College admissions NEVER hinge on one more or less AP class, and for competitive universities your involvement and impact through activities will be much more important.
So, choose schedule 1 and rest easy with that decision.

Thanks guys, I think I will push AP spanish to senior year becuase mostly junoirs take ap psychology

It’s not the number of APs, it’s what APs you choose and why.
If you don’t take AP Spanish w do you have a Spanish class you can take?
Also, understand that AP Spanish is a core class considered one of the most rigorous APs, whereas AP psychology is an AP lite, equivalent for college admissions to taking an unweighted art class. If all high track juniors in your school take AP Psych it means all of you will have the same basic schedule, so you’ll have to stand out through ec impact and involvement
