AP classes senior year

So im gonna be taking 2-4 AP classes senior year and i was wondering if this would be a good ideA?

Would this give me any type of boost in my apps? I dont have a swell GPA so i was thinking these APs would help boost me

I know i can do well in these APs

Always take the most rigorous classload you can manage... Work on your SAT/ACT score as much as you can if your GPA isn't so swell (so you say!)

Also, don't forget about your ECA's.

You should be taking advanced classes just because you'd rather have harder classes and think you'd get more out of it, not because you're worried about your GPa.

^ He's going to be a senior.

Take the APs... the rigor of your course-load is a factor in admissions

I'm taking 5 (our school offers craploads of APs, and it isn't entirely unusual for a student to take 7 or 8, although only in the top 10%). Why not? You say you'll do well, which means you'll be learning at a pace more suited to you, you'll be taking advanced classes (which colleges like), and you could potentially get college credit. All good things.

Yeah, if you think you're going to do well in them, the added rigor can only help you.

OP-

Assuming you haven't had many AP classes, you will benefit in the following ways:

1) you will verify that you can handle a tough load
2) you will discover if you LIKE a tough load

From these two findings, you will be better able to decide what college is the best match for you.

Not everyone needs to go to WashU vs. UMaryland, or Duke vs. Ohio St. If you don't actually like tough courses, then don't apply or attend a college full of people who do!

Of course, don't take more AP's than you can handle. You shouldn't take AP classes as a factor in getting in. You should be taking advanced classes just because you'd rather have harder classes and think you'd get more out of it, not because you're worried about your GPa
