AP Classes Summer Assignments.

AP lit-
read: Illusions: a reluctant messiah, Lord of Dicipline and Jane eyre
annotate: two Emerson essays
write: a UC essay

AP Gov.-
read the book, will be test, don’t know how much I have to read ):

AP US Gov and Politics - NONE

@Steffc973: That’s a lot to do over break :frowning: Please tell me you got a 5. At least a 4.
In my APWH class, we did DBQs once or twice a month as well  although, I think APUSH and APWH DBQs might be different… haha

AP Lang:
Read Candide and 1984
5 quotes to analyze in a reading log sort of thing for 1984.
Draw a scene from 1984 (this is gonna be soooo much fun not sarcasm :D)
Write a poem/song on Candide.
Write what would happen if Candide took place in a different time period.

And then I’m studying for Physics and AP Euro because the upperclassmen say it’s killer if you don’t at least try to start during the summer x_x.

Nothing because I got the cool APUSH teacher instead of the one who actually makes her students do work :)

For AP Biology, I have to read five chapters in the Biology textbook and type up questions the teacher gave us for each chapter. There is about ten questions for three chapters, about five for one chapter, and about twenty questions for the last. I don’t think it’s that hard.

1984 is an awful book. I’m not sure why, but I did not enjoy it one bit. The diction was awful and I couldn’t concentrate. Though, the concept was good.

I’m graduated now, but last summer I had:

AP Calc- a 10 page packet with precalc problems

AP Phsyics- Read, outline, do problems for the first 5 chapters, plus memorize the corresponding equations

AP Bio (worst)- Read 6 chapters and do problems on each, write a paper describing a fay in the life of an organism, make a powerpoint, and prepare for a presentation

AP English- read Major Barbara, and one out of 3 books (Kite Runner, Mr. Pip, White Teeth) and take 4 pages of notes on each to prepare for discussions/papers in the fall

AP Macro- none. Thank God.

AP English Lit - Nine books, 30 page reading logs for each (finding quotes) UGH
AP Art History - read ENTIRE textbook, fill out 50 page packet
AP Biology - memorize 200 important word endings for test first day
AP Government (second semester) - read first four chapters

And since I am skipping Anatomy, I have to read the anatomy textbook. I also have to finish a biology workbook.

Next year I’ll be in four AP classes and four honor classes, and I only have to read one book. Out of a list, I’m choosing to read A Passage to India!

ah only real ap summer work is for bio

10 chapters with like 15 detailed questions each and like 30 vocab words! and we actually have to send them in during summer… yay.

I also have to participate in this blog for Cambridge English 10. We have to read Pride and Prejudice and Richard III, and we have to write a question on the blog and answer the questions of other people.

AP Chemistry- WebAssign problems

This is stupid. We have to begin July 5th, no earlier and we have a time limit to complete these problems. Here I am at home sitting on the computer when I could be doing AP Chem work, but instead I"m even more bored. In the meantime, they posted notes and flashcards, so I guess I get to memorize them.

God I wish we had Comparative Gov here!

The only thing I have to do is read The English Patient and a memoir for Lang, even though I’m in 5 APs next year. I love life. :)

AP Bio- read Survival Of the Sickest and Hot Zone and answer 60 questions
AP World History- read Guns Germs And Steel and take notes. Also, I have to complete a packet with a time line and 65 questions.
Honors English- Read Cry, the Beloved Country, take novel notes, write dialectical journal, and take cornell notes on Dutch and British rule, pre- Apartheid, Apartheid

AP Physics - None
AP Lit - Read 2 required readings and write reviews
AP Calc - Monstor Trig packet, though it’s easy
AP Econ - None
AP Comp Sci - Go over Java
AP Gov - Do three Current events per week/write summaries on each topic/write analysis on each article/news report

Not a lot, which I’m VERY thankful for:)

AP Chemistry;

 • Don’t know because it hasn’t been announced yet, but I’m expecting a lot of work because he did warn us.

AP Art History:

 • Make a fancy reference booklet documenting the progression of art styles. Include information.
 • Outline 6 chapters
 • Take pictures of buildings throughout the city and make a poster, noting the style and details.

Pre-Cal:

 • Math Packet
 • Some lame website that we’re supposed keep up with throughout the summer in order to prepare for the state standardized tests. So, basically a ton of quizzes that we have to take.

AP Psychology:

 • Read + Outline 6 chapters from the textbook
 • Some random essay assignment

English Honors:

 • Read 2 books and write essays about them (courtesy of my district)

Here’s hoping that I don’t start September burnt out already.

AP English: Choose a book from the list and write five journals on it. I chose A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. (I’ve read it before, but it was a while ago.)
AP Calc: A 40 page packet on Pre-Calc stuff.
AP Bio: Read like five chapters from the textbook and answer questions on them. Also have some vocab words to. I also have to option of outlining the chapters for extra credit, but I don’t think I’m going to do it. I’m probably going to drop this class, so I might not do the summer assignment.

@BryDeeC- your Calc assignment is WAYYYY more tedious than mine.

^Yea, it really sucks. :frowning: It seems like pretty basic stuff though.
