AP classes Urgent Info

Hi,

School, for me, starts tomorrow and i am planning on taking three ap classes this semester. I have never taken an ap class before, so who should i contact to say that i would like to take those classes? Should I inform my guidance counselor or should I go directly to the head of the departments ? Also, is there a limit for ap classes or am I supposed to get those classes without complications ( considering that my grades are above 95)?

Thank you in advance and please try to answer my questions as promptly as possible.

please, anyone????

uh... you need to inform other ppl of what classes your taking a day bfore school starts? I would think that you have already established your schedule earlier.

Anyway, ask your GC

That's weird that you haven't already established taking APs by now. At my school, and well, most schools I know of, AP means summer work. So, that's interesting.

Schools do it differently, but mine asks that your current teacher in the subject has to sign for you to take an AP Class. So, last March I wanted to take AP Euro History and AP Gov't, so I asked my (then) current American History teacher to sign for me. For AP English I asked my honors English teacher to sign for me. It just shows that they think you could handle the next level up of work (although, my Am. History teacher had doubts - he does AP Euro now, so I'm thinking he's still waiting...)

Talk to your GC and also talk to the AP teachers, who may have a lot to do with who gets accepted. In some schools, if a student shows a strong interest to the AP teacher, the teacher will even expand an overenrolled class to accept the student. That's how S got into an overenrolled AP class at his new school.

I really appreciate the responses and i will certainly talk to my GC tomorrow. I had informed my GC that i wanted Ap chem towards the end of the previous semester and she agreed to put me in the class, but it obviously didn't go as it should. I am hoping that she can enroll me instead of my previous tachers since this would make the process much faster.
Thank you

frasifrasi, I wonder why haven't you selected your schedule long before summer vacation? It's a lot works that involve in scheduling all students. In my S's school you can't even make any changes before Sept. 16th.

Don't take AP bio.!!! It's killing me and the teacher has it out for me.

Dunno, I like AP Bio so far.

It's a lot of work, admittedly. Like most things in life.
Just talk to the juniors/seniors at your school.

i started studying for the ap already and i am planning on getting a 4 at least. I talked to someone else at my school today and she informed me that i could self study the class and then ask someone to sign me up for the test towards may. I am worried about the lab however. Does anyone know if the ap lab is similar to the lab for honors? Also, does anyone one know a good website for looking up notes and laboratory activities from an AP class?

Thank you very much in advance and i will prove that it is possible to pass that test without taking the class--even if it requires tremendous and overwhelming effort.

To syneria, there are no seniors in my school. I'm in the first graduating class. My school is new and that makes everything alot harder.
