AP Classes?

Can anyone tell me which of these AP classes is the hardest, and if I shouldn't take them the same year and things like that? Much appreciated.

Freshman:
AP Human Geography
Sophomore:
AP World History
Junior:
AP English Lang or/Lit
AP Psychology
Senior:
AP English Lang or /Lit
AP Government/AP Economics
An AP Math class. I don't know which one...

Varies depending on the person, but it’d probably be your AP English or AP Calc if you take it.
World History or Psych might be difficult too though, I’m not sure.

What’re your strengths, what subjects interest you, are you better with rote memorization or concepts… etc.

Here’s my take:

human geo = very easy
world history = no personal info on it, medium probably
english lang = easy-medium
psych = easy
english lit = medium-hard (lots of work)
econ = easy
ap maths = easy if you’re good at math

Your hardest will be AP Math and AP English
Unless you are strong in either or both.
they just usually have the most work or most challenging work depending on the person

From the experiences I’ve heard from my friends, AP Psychology is the hardest. I think you’ll be fine taking them the way you have them put on here (I know kids who took four a year and survived but only you know what you can handle)

Psychology is my passion, so I’m hoping that since I find the subject interesting I’ll be able to keep up.

 • English has ALWAYS been my easiest subject and Math my worst. So I’m hoping for a good teacher.

NO ONE on this forum is going to be able to tell you the difficulty of these classes at YOUR school except the people there. AP classes can vary so much between schools it’s borderline ridiculous. Obviously they’re all challenging in their own way, but teachers are going to make all the difference. Most AP’s (except maybe calc) don’t have to be that hard, but some teachers see the AP label which makes them believe AP = more busywork = better education, which is rarely the case.

tl;dr - ask your friends.

It was just for opinions.

Quick question-- Why are you planning so far ahead? I constantly see kids starting high school planning out their junior and senior APs for no reason. Your classes are going to change. You are going to change. Heck. You might even take three in a year or four. Just focus in the next two years.

Personally, I thought AP Human was quite easy; I took it freshman year. I also have a friend that took AP World this year and found that course extremely easy. I haven’t taken any of the other courses yet but will be taking Calc. AB next year, which I heard is not that difficult if you have taken advanced pre-calculus beforehand. If you want AP credit and are interested, I would also recommend taking AP Enviornmental; I took it as a freshman and did very well. AP Biology, though intially difficult, will satisfy that high school credit. I took Bio. this (sophomore) year and can honestly say it was my first “real” taste of college coursework. I strongly urge you to take it at some point in high school, as it really taught me a thing or two. However, it is still very true that class selection should be based on your own interests and academic abilities, so you shouldn’t take a class you wouldn’t enjoy or do well in. Hope this helped!

Why would you take useless classes that you will never use ever again?

It’s a waste of time and money

It’s not a waste of money if your school pays for it…

It all depends on the teacher. And it depends on the the student. For me, AP Lang was the hardest at my school, while AP Gov was the easiest. Talk to kids from your school to find out!

You’re just like me. Psych is my passion and I self studied it this year for an easy 5. I’m great at English but not so great at Math.

Here’s my take on your AP schedule:

Freshman:
AP Human Geography - Easy, and great choice for a first AP. It requires some memorization skills but overall one of the easier APs, if not the easiest.
Sophomore:
AP World History - For me, it was very hard because I don’t like history and my teacher is pretty difficult. But it is easier than the other histories because you have to memorize broad concepts rather than small details. If this is your only AP for sophomore year, I say go for it.
Junior:
AP English Lang or/Lit - If you’re good at English, these will be a breeze. Take Lang first though and Lit senior year. The stuff you learn in Lang can better prepare you for Lit. Lang is about writing and Lit is about reading.
AP Psychology - Really easy, really fun. I self studied it for a bit and then crammed everything in in 2 days. It was an easy 5, but I loved studying it because psych is my passion.
Senior:
AP English Lang or /Lit - Take Lit senior year (see above). Its level of difficulty really depends on the person.
AP Government/AP Economics - Both or just one? The easier one is AP Government, but AP Economics isn’t too bad either.
An AP Math class. I don’t know which one… - The easiest AP Math is Statistics, and you will need it if you plan on majoring in Psychology. You can take Calc AB, BC, or Computer Science if you want. Comp Sci is pretty fun and doesn’t require math knowledge, but it’s semi-difficult especially without experience in programming.
