Hi,

I'm considering the AP CG&P... and I can't find good review books near me (in Canada)- I've heard the Ethel Wood book is great, but I can't find one. Also, I'm self-studying bc my school doesnt offer the course, so could anyone rate its difficulty and suggest some other good review books (I dont think PR or Barrons has one)?

Thanks a lot.

Yeah, PR and Barron’s books don’t exist. I’m also SSing Comp Gov, but all I’ve heard about is Ethel Woods. Moving forward, I will probably look into finding more resources.

Ethel Woods is the best and probably enough on it’s own. For CoPo, always get the most recent edition, especially b/c the world is turbulent and governments can change quick (look at Egypt or Libya).

The AP test was interesting. The MC was much easier than I expected, mostly generalized and doable. FR was tricky simply because you don’t know what will be asked of you, but you are expected to be detailed. It’s not like say AP Chem where they always ask the same types of questions (electrochemical, usually cells, acids/bases, a lab ?, reactions, thermodynamics, periodic trends/atomic structure, etc.) because it’s truly random. Sometimes it can be tricky, depending on how strict they are on the grading, but I think they do honestly try to be fair.

Other than extra practice tests, you don’t need anything else other than the latest version of Ethel Woods guide. Take it from the guy who read/studied the book 3 days prior, took some practice tests, and then got a 5 with no previous studying before those 3 days (self-studied). Anything else will honestly just be a waste of time/money, believe me.
