Does anybody know if the AP comparative government and politics by Ethel Wood have good practice questions and good ap exams similar to the questions in the real collegeboard ap comparative government and politics exam?

i've heard her book is the best.

I have a question about the Ethyl Wood book.

Pg 242 one of the questions is:

Patron Client systems are a type of:
A) linkage institution
B) parliamentary democracy
C) totalitarian regime
D) presidential democracy
E) authoritarian regime

Can anyone explain to me why the answer is E? At least, that's what the answer key has.

thats a toughie... i missed this one as well. i think i originally chose A) Linkage Institution because these relationships are what link the general population to the government. I guess Patron Client Relationships are not a type of institution though. Authoritarian makes sense too though, the patron has all of the power over the clients, much like a dictator.

the patron-client system is defined under the authoritarian regime section of the different regime/government explanations. it is definitely NOT an institution. and i think the poster above is right in explaining how the patron-client defintion fits into the concept of an authoiritatrian rgime.

it could also be under the definition of elites in the book. im not sure tho.

this is the best book. i just started it today and it has tons of info in it. hopefully ill get a 4 or 5 out of it

wow....and the AP exam is monday and thats a basic concept.....yall are kinda screwed lol

ethyl wood (sp?) is pretty good; i used that last year and got a 5

"wow....and the AP exam is monday and thats a basic concept.....yall are kinda screwed lol"

its not that we don't understand the concept. the question is awkward.
