Hey guys. Who has take AP Comuter Science A before and how hard is it? I know almost nothing about the JAVA language... Thx in advance to all those who respond!

I took it this year, and got a 5 - Java A is really easy but I don’t know what changes the CB will make to it because they’re removing Java AB

Anyway, you really should have a sufficient familiarity with programming, and really should take the course in school so as to provide you with an immersion setting to make you more comfortable with writing code.

I think the curve has been steady around a 75% for a 5

type “learn java” on youtube and there is some tutorial about Java. You should watch that if you want to be a little ahead in class.

Even if this is your first programming language, it shouldn’t be too hard. It’s mostly logic, anyway… just treat it as learning a new language.
I don’t recommend self studying, though, unless you’re willing to put in effort doing exercises and writing programs instead of just memorizing the book… in which case you’d be better off just taking the course.

Yeah I just took the class… I was really good at programming, didn’t bother to study at all, and got a 5.

I took AB and got a 5. The class was awesome, since it was 1st period and the teacher was really relaxed and let us do other homework / fool around if we finished our projects on time.

The A (and AB) exams barely scratch the surface of real programming.
