Hey everyone, I am a high school Junior and my school has started scheduling for next year's courses and I am in a predicament. I'm a top student who is trying to decide between taking AP Computer Science as a full year course or the half-year courses of Economics and Journalism.

The other courses I will be taking next year are AP English, AP Spanish, AP European History, AP Calculus AB, and AP Statistics. I have no experience in programming or computer science but I want to know if it is worthwhile to take the AP class instead of the economics and journalism courses.

I definitely see myself going into economics and business in college but this may be the only time I can take Comp Sci, as I know I will take Economics at the college level. Any suggestions of what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

I’d go with Computer Science if you plan on doing business and economics in college.
You can do economics or journalism in college, Computer Science would be a great experience for you. I wish I had an AP Computer Science class at my high school!
I may be bias though, since Computer Science will be my major in college next year xP
You can always do whatever you feel more comfortable with, however.

thank you so much for your advice i really appreciate it! i’m still deciding though, any other suggestions?

I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of taking AP CS and I’m just not sure if the fact that it is an AP course weighs out the fact that I am really interested in Economics.

Hmmmmm, well to ME Computer Science courses aren’t difficult. I taught myself everything that most Computer Science courses teach, but hmmmm.
It is an AP course, so that has advantages, however you are taking lots of other AP courses right?
Maybe you COULD take just the semester classes so you have a little bit of a break from AP work.
It’s all up to what you think you can do next year though.
