<p>I'm interested in taking AP Comp Sci next year, but I have absolutely no experience with programming (besides some Scratch programs, which shouldn't count). I think that it's really interesting, but I don't know much about it. Does the class require a general knowledge of programming and the like prior to taking the class?</p>

Not really, google codeacademy and progress through that a bit, and you should be fine.</p>
<p>It might be very helpful to brush up on Java by yourself. A head start definitely doesn’t hurt.</p>
