AP Courses and SAT Subject Test

My school only offers 2 AP courses per year. I’m now a junior and I can’t take any AP courses because it would be too much of a load along with studying for my last SAT trial and SAT subject tests Biology E/M and Math 1. Should I be worried? Is taking an AP Course the same as sitting for an SAT Subject test? Will the difference matter to colleges?

Yes.

Did you think the rest of us taking AP courses aren’t prepping for SAT’s at the same time? Top colleges will expect you to take the most rigorous schedule you can handle, and your excuse in not taking AP’s is a cop-out.

2 APs and studying for the SAT should be manageable. I took 3 APs junior year and studied for the SAT I, and took the subject tests (Math II, Physics) October of senior year, and it wasn’t that bad.

I think that since I’m going to be done with the SATs senior year I’ll take my APs then. I understand that my question gives off the impression that I’m lazy but I do have a lot on my plate and I am someone who studies rigorously and I like to always give my all in anything Im working for so I feel that spreading myself too thin won’t be a good idea. Thanks for the advice, though.

You have completed algebra 2 and high school biology, correct? If so, then just a little review should be sufficient for the SAT subject tests in math level 1 and biology, unless your high school’s courses were of poor quality and/or you did not do well in them.
