AP Courses as pre-requisites?

Hey everyone. So I am currently a rising sophomore in college and just had a quick question regarding med school. I know many require pre–requisites like calculus, physics, etc. So as of right now I have not taken any of these course but the reason being is because I already transferred in AP credits for calculus and physics, from HS. So basically I got out of taking those in college. Now do I still have to take the classes in order to fulfill the pre-requisites for med school or do those count towards that as well.

I’m going to quote an answer offered by a med school adcomm regarding AP credits:

There is no straight forward answer to this as the acceptance of these vary widely by medical school and by AP course taken. Generally, the AP course has to have been given graded credit on your college transcript to be accepted. Some schools will accept for some courses but not others (Bio and Physics seem to frequent in this). In most schools that do accept these courses, they will will count the class a s prereq has been fulfilled but not the credit for the course. That is, if you have AP Bio, a medical school will expect you to have 8 additional credits in advanced Bio.

tl;dr --to be safe, you’ll still need to take 8 credits in math and 8 credits in physics during college to fulfill admission requirements.
