So I’m currently a sophomore in high school and taking one AP course this year (AP World History). Next year as a junior, I am going to take AP Calc AB, APUSH, AP Bio, and either AP Chemistry or AP Physics I. I’m taking Honors Chemistry this year, but I’m struggling, even though I have an A in the class (the grade doesn’t always reflect the understanding of the material), I was just wondering which class I should take between Chemistry and Physics. I feel like since I just took Chemistry it might be good to continue it next year, and that Chemistry might be more useful for the future. Any advice?
Most top colleges want to see a year of bio, chem, and physics, so I would say AP Physics 1.
So would it look better to have a B in AP Physics I and a 3 on the AP Exam or maybe an A in AP Chemistry and a 3 on that exam?
AP scores will carry little to no weight in the admissions process. An A is always better than a B.
Well, I would suggest you take Chemistry. Only if you are interested in Math and you meet all the pre-requisites for AP Physics course, then you should probably take AP Physics C. Avoid taking AP Physics 1. AP Physics C would give you much of a calc feel and would prepare you better for college. If not interested much in math, then take AP Chemistry. Hope you found it helpful.
if you plan on taking both ap’s in the future, i’d say take chem while it’s fresh in your head and save physics for senior year.
