AP Credit Dilemma

OK… so this is my situation… I’m a freshman in college this year, majoring in biology and hoping to go on to grad school or possibly med/pharm school. I don’t know yet . . . I’m just a freshman and I realize college gets a lot more difficult. We have to start choosing our classes for spring, but I just realized that I will have 45 credits by the end of my first semester because of AP credits. So I think this means I am a year ahead of schedule, and can graduate in only three years simply by taking a normal credit load. Here are my questions, so maybe someone can give me some second opinions on what I have already been told.

1.Say I do well in classes and whatnot. I finish school in three years by taking 15 credits a semester. If I wanted to apply to grad, med, or pharm school, would earning my degree in only three years hurt me? Would I be at a disadvantage compared to other applicants?

  1. Would you recommend double majoring? This would have me graduate in the standard 4 years, but I've heard that double majors are kind of worthless. If not, what major would complement biology?

I’m fortunate to have a very nice scholarship, so in terms of cost, it would not be significantly different to stay four years. I also don’t want to miss out on the college experience, especially because I’m a student-athlete. Besides, I don’t really have a clear idea on my career path yet. I thought I had some time, but I didn’t realize I had so many credits coming into college.
Forgive my ignorance and thank you in advance:)

You don’t have to graduate early just because you have a lot of AP credit. I wouldn’t recommend graduating early unless it’s financially necessary. If you stay four years, you’ll have more time to take advanced classes and build your resume.

Graduating in fewer than 4 years is not a detriment for pharmacy school. Many pharmacy schools don’t even require an undergraduate degree!
