Hi there!
I am an RD applicant to Georgetown and after visiting a short while ago, it’s at the top of my list. I applied to the College as a double-major in Chinese and Economics, and am currently trying to figure out how to fit all of that in, study abroad during my junior year, and make time for taking on an internship or two during the school year. (Yikes!)
First, I’d like to fulfill a substantial amount of the core curriculum before entering Georgetown so that I have plenty of room to delve into what I am really passionate about. I am not worried about history, (I received 5s on World & Euro) Writing, (got a 5 on AP lit) or Math/Science (expecting at least a 4 in Calc BC). That said, is anyone aware of any AP or placement tests I can take to fulfill the HALC and/or “engaging diversity” requirements?
I also have a quick question about the Economics major. Included in the major’s requirements are three classes that I can place out of due to my AP credits in Micro, Macro, & math. Does this mean that I only have to take 8 classes (as opposed to the standard 11) to fulfill my major requirement? I ask because if that’s the case, I would probably take a few statistics or business classes in the MSB to replace them.
Last thing-- Georgetown’s website states that two history courses are required for Chinese majors, and they recommend that one of those courses relates to China. This kind of confuses me, considering that all Georgetown students must take 2 history classes… am I still able to use my AP credits to bypass this requirement? Are there any classes I can take in the SFS that I can take to fulfill my Chinese major requirements?
Thanks for reading my lengthy post, and any help would be appreciated!
