I'm taking APs now and I'm wondering - about Econ - does everyone just take the easier economics classes in the business school or is it worthwhile to try and get 5's on the tests next week and take the classes in the econ department? Are the classes in economics very quantitative? Should you really take the ones in the b-school anyway because maybe they're more relavant to business?

I'm honestly not sure if your AP Econ will get you out of the business school's quantitative requirements (two classes: QBA 120 and QBA 121). I took AP Statistics in high school and got a 4 and believe it only counted for general pre-matriculation credits that counted towards my total hours needed to graduate and not towards a specific class I need in the business school. If I took a normal Stats class in Arts&Sciences it probably would have placed me out of it. I ended up having to take QBA 120 and 121 so I suppose that it won't matter if you are doing the Olin school!

They are both relatively challenging classes and I am very strong in math... the professor grades based on standard deviations away from the mean, which has its pros and cons, but he's a great professor and you will learn a lot. No graphic calculators allowed, either (even when you're forced to do linear regressions BY HAND), so you really do learn a lot.
