AP Credit in the honors college!?

I am currently taking AP English: Literature of Composition.

I got into the honors program and i wanted to know what a 5 on the AP english exam will get me out of. I think i want to major in physics so i dont forsee myself taking english courses.

I know that the Great Books course covers the humanities and composition requirement so i wouldnt be able to use my ap credit towards that right?

Basically i want to know if it matters what i get on this exam because i have others that i can use the 5 on (aka. not caring about english means more time studying for others).

THANKS!

Any AP credit you get from the exam will not get you out of Great Books or Classical Civilization (you have a choice between the two for the first-year Honors literature requirement).

So no, your AP Lit exam won't matter in that regard.

All AP credits help because things like football seating and scheduling order are determined by the amount of credits you have, so AP always helps. But AP english doesn't get you out of anything, honors or not.

Do AP credits help in any way academically? Say I'm doing a dual degree program, and I don't want to take 5 years. Would having a bunch of AP credits help crunch it into 4?

Perhaps. I can't answer that in a blanket statement. They can get you out of your major's prereqs, so in that instance, yes. This helps for departments like bio, psych, chem, econ, and some others. However, for some departments, it won't help for your major at all, like in math, history, english, statistics, and others. But yes, in many cases, AP credits can take a 5-year courseload into 4. I came in with AP credits, and it's allowing me to get two majors and a minor in 4 years with a decent amount of breathing room.

Thanks! ^_^
