AP credit question

So I took AP chem and will be taking ap bio this may. However, to my understanding, this does not allow for freshman students to skip these classes, they must still take them again for USC credit. is this correct?

I think you are reading that incorrectly- if you score a 4 or 5 it is possible to get Bio 120 and Chem 105a waived as a pre-req and move on.

http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/apexamcredit.html

Many choose not to go this route if they are pre-med because some med schools don’t accept AP credit for pre-reqs or require you to take a more advanced class instead if using AP credit for intro class.

Regardless of AP credit, I would suggest taking the BISC 120/220 and CHEM 105A/B sequence even if you get 5s on both.

^Completely agree with this if you plan on taking any additional Bio or Chem (or science for that matter) classes.

The Viterbi school people recommend using AP credits to make room for elective classes, a minor or double major, or overseas study.

My son used the AP credit for Bio and Chem to meet three requirements of his CS major. He just had to take second semester of either of them and his science requirements were met. He choose to do Bio. He was in that class with a bunch of pre-med majors. It was definitely a challenging class grade wise. Lowest grade of his college career.
