So I plan on taking AP exams coming May and I’m confused as to which exams I should take. I plan on applying to LMU as a computer science major and I plan on taking the calculus bc, CS A, CS principles, english language, chemistry, physics 1 and physics 2 exams, however only calculus bc and CS A have course equivalency for my major and the university offers credit for the others. So should i take the remaining exams? Also how does the undistributed credit work since i still have to take the class anyway? My main objective is cutting costs, so should i only take the two exams which has course equivalency to cut the cost of the class or will the undistributed exams contribute to it too?

There are 2 parts to APs: exemptions and credits.
Exemptions get you out of taking a specific class. For example, English Lit with a specific score may exempt you from English 101. There are 2 benefits: for classes that you want to take more of, you can skip the intro level, and for classes that you have to take (such as GenEd requirements), it might get you out of having to take the class. In both cases, that leaves more space open in your schedule to take the classes you want/need to take.
Credits is how many of your AP credits will count towards graduation requirements. Obviously, the more credits you can get from APs the fewer you have to pay for at college. Not sure what you mean by ‘undistributed’ but if you mean courses for which there is no direct equivalence, it is less likely that a college will give credit, but again: each college sets their own policies.
I don’t know which LMU you are talking about, so you will have to look it up yourself. Most colleges have their rules on their website, including whether there is a cap on how many credits you can bring with you from APs, which APs will be accepted for credit and/or exemptions and what score(s) are required.
