Also since you need chem w/ lab and bio w/ lab for medical school what if your college doesn't have labs past the freshman year which you have gotten by AP already?

Son used AP to get out of general requirements. His advisor strongly suggested he retake the courses in his major even with 5's.

Son got credit for class and labs in chem with 5 on AP. I'd still ask the advisor though.

Yes, ask your advisor. At my son's school, if you score high enough on AP test to receive credit, you may not retake class for credit.

However you do it -
1. you still need to be very strong in those early courses in order to do well on the MCAT.

whatever year's worth of biology/two years worth of chem /and year's worth of physics you take MUST have labs with them to count.

and, as you probably know already, AP credit does NOT count towards these med school requirements.

Getting good premed advisement at your school is, of course, strongly recommended.

At UCLA, you HAVE to take credit in the english and the math you take. You can can see this as a good thing or a bad thing depending on how fast you wanna graduate and the difficulty of courses you want to take. Remember, it is advisable to take at least 2 quarters (1 semester) of math and a full year of english. Because I passed out of our easy english class, Im stuck taking three quarters of hard english, while others only have to take two.
