We are delighted that our twins were both admitted to the Engineering School at UVA for the Fall of 2020. Our oldest son graduated early from UVA (College of Arts and Science), partly because of credits on AP subjects. We were wondering if any AP credits also transfer over to the Engineering School - with a possibility of graduating early and/or study abroad. Thanks for any insights.
Based on the AP credit listings:

and an example engineering program:

Some possible uses of AP credit:
- Note that the curriculum assumes knowledge of calculus 1 (AP calculus AB), so it starts in APMA 1110 (calculus 2 for engineering). However, there is an APMA 1090 (calculus 1 for engineering) for those without knowledge of calculus 1.
- 5 on AP calculus BC = APMA 1110 (calculus 2 for engineering).
- 4 on AP physics 1 = PHYS 1429 (general physics 1 workshop (lab)).
- 4 on AP physics 2 = PHYS 2419 (general physics 2 workshop (lab)).
- 4 on AP physics C mechanics = PHYS 1425 (general physics 1).
- 4 on AP physics C E&M = PHYS 2415 (general physics 2).
- 4 on AP chemistry = CHEM 1610 and 1620 (but still need to take lab).
- 4 on AP English, history, economics, government, psychology, art, music, foreign language = check whether they count for humanities or social studies requirements. Note: no credit for AP human geography.
Very helpful. Thank You!
