<p>In a nutshell, most of the AP credits are coounted as overall units, and can NOT be substituted for graduation requirements in general ed. </p>
<p>However, there are exceptions. AP Calculus A/B and B/C are fully transferrable and do not have to be retaken if you pass the AP test with a score of 3 or better. I believe that AP English and Foreign Languages are also accepted.</p>
<p>I think a 4 or 5 on AP Psych gets you credit for Psych 10</p>

<p>means you get credit that counts for graduation (say, you're 4 units closer to the amount you need to graduate) but that credit doesn't count for a specific class.

<p>i think you can retake the class. i know a guy who got a 5 on calc ab but retook it here just for extra review before 31b.

<p>Why would you want to decline the credits and retake the math class if you want to take as little math as possible? Why not move ahead to the next class in the series so as to get it all behind you faster?</p>
<p>Well, moving ahead means having to take multi variable calc and Linear Algebra while if one starts back at learning derivatives, then he/she could stop before they hit linear algebra and complete the math requirements for med/grad school.</p>
<p>yah... it's not how FAR you get ultimately... it's how many quarters you take in college.
so AP credits don't count for med schools, they want to see math you actually took at your college.

<p>If you follow the Pre-Med route, you won't have to worry about repeating AP math courses, at least Calculus.</p>
<p>You will most likely take the 3-series if you want the easy way out, which you are not granted credit from any scores of AP.</p>
<p>However, if you are a prospective engineering student, your hopes should be to score a 5 on Calculus BC, so you can start with Multivariable Calculus (assuming you haven't taken CC math courses beyond that). </p>

<p>Hmm... according to UCLA's site... if you are in L&S, a 5 on the Calc BC gets you out of both 31A / 31B, but if you are in HSSEAS... you only get 31A =[.</p>

Hmm... and for AP Physics C... I guess getting anywhere between a 3-5 for both sections only gets you unit credit. I thought getting a 5 on Mechanics would get me out of Physics 1A or w/e. I think it was like that at Cal.</p>

<p>AP exams give you credit for graduating, and sometimes can give you credit for certain courses (ie psych 10), but they DO NOT factor into your GPA. you just get the units xD</p>
<p>What's the point of the units that don't go towards a GE, especially for engineers? And here I thought taking AP French was actually worth something...</p>
