Do AP credits result in the actual award of NEU credit toward the total required for graduation? Or, are the credits the equivalent of having taken a particular course, allowing students to take more advanced courses in the field/topic or electives or a reduced course load in one or more semesters?

So far my son who is a freshman was able to waive out of Chem 1 and Chem 2 using his Chem ap credits. He also waived out of Pre Calc, but had no ap credits for that. It must have been because he had honors Calculus in high school. He also has credits for AP US History and AP Music Theory, but we are not sure what is going to happen to those, whether it will reduce his load in the future.

You need 16 credits to be considered a full time student...If you have AP credit, they will accept it, but you must take another course in its place.
