Hey, this is a question for current students at Stanford,
what are the best AP Credits to use, like what will get me out of maybe really strictly graded classes/ classes that are too easy/ pesky distribution requirments

i have a 5 on AP Chem, APUSH, comp sci A, Bio, and a 4 on Euro History

the AP's i am taking this year are Physics B, Calc BC, Psych, GOPO, English, Macro, Micro

I am interested in Electrical Engineering/ Econ/ Comp Sci/ Management Engineering (whatever it is called)

I’m not a current student, but the only AP credits they’ll take from you is Chem (4 Quarter Units), Comp Sci A (5 Quarter Units), Physics B (8 QU for a 5, 4 QU for a 4), and Calc BC (10 QU for a 4 or 5, 5 QU for a 3).

From what I’ve heard, placing out of Calc is definitely worth it. Apparently the math series you are placed into if you have taken Calc is much more lenient than the alternative.

Yeah, Stanford doesn’t take much in the way of AP credit. It looks like you’re already aiming to place out of everything you can except foreign language requirements. However, Stanford is also very lax in most departments about prerequisites. So if you think you can skip an intro course, and you don’t need the intro course for your major, you’re welcome to try to jump straight into a more advanced course.

I’m an early admit and
wow as soon as I saw that list I felt a sigh of relief
now I only have to take calc BC and Chem this year and didn’t have to sign up for 4 others I won’t even bother listing.

also - worth it to place out of FL requirement with my 5 on French?

so i kinda wish i could get credit for my other courses, but at the same time im pretty relived that i dont have to worry about so many AP tests,
can i just bomb them and do well on the ones that they actually accept?
they wouldnt put me on academic probation or anything for getting a 1 on the AP’s right?

Nah, I don’t think they’ll care. They won’t see your AP scores until you send them in to get the credits. They probably won’t even take a second glance at the scores they don’t take.

nblazer, do you know if you can cancel exams at your school? I know at my high school, you can cancel a test up until the day of for a refund (minus $25 for processing or something). It seems like that would be a better plan than just goofing off for three hours during the test…

nope,
in my school if u take an ap class, u have to sit down for the test
what do most people do senior year when they have tests that dont count for anything
