I have like 13 Aps (all 5's) and I think like 6 of them will give me credit. I am worried though, that I will still be behind if I skip to the next class. Is it better to go ahead or to retake the class?

skip ahead.

retaking classes really suck if you already know the material. if you had that many fives, most likely you do know the material and dont need to retake.

I had a few more 5s than you did, but I'm guessing we got credits for pretty much the same classes (econ/calc/physics/chem/some sort of foreign lang? am i forgetting something?) you should definitely skip ahead in econ and calc, the intro sequences (econ 1/50/etc and math 50s) at stanford were really easy. you wont have any trouble if you're coming in with 5s. physics is up to you, you can take either the 40s or 60s if you did well on both physics C tests. and depending on if ur pre-med or not, you can choose to skip chem 31x with the AP credit (personally I'm not pre-med, so I'm never gonna take 31x even if I choose to continue studying orgo next year or something)

other than that, as a general rule, I think taking the most challenging classes (that you can still handle) gives you the most bang for the buck... like, why let your 47k/yr go down the drain while ur studying stuff you already know?

I agree with firebird if you can get out of certain courses do it. I can only get out of couple of courses (chemistry and math) and I'm planning to. I don't know about the rest but I heard that Chem 31X is pretty much AP material and that you can easily start Math 50 series. I don't know about the rest though

From what I've heard, definitely move on in the Math. I think the rest may be safe as well. As Stanford doesn't give credit for everything, I think by giving credit they are telling you that you know enough to skip.

I agree with all of the above statements. It is true that Chem 31X is like a repeat of AP Chem, but they do go more depth into the material and ask tougher questions. However, there's no reason to take it unless it's required for something.

If you did calculus, I definitely recommend going straight into the 50 series.

Unless you really like physics, I wouldn't go into the 60 series. If you need to retake 40 series or take 60 series I'd go with 40 series or just skip it altogether.
