A firend's son is not enjoying his college experience and thinking of transfering closer to home. Although he is a freshman, he was awarded 42 credits for APs and Dual Enrolled courses at the college he is attending. His mom is worried because the school he wants to transfer to requires higher scores on the AP exams to receive credit and gives no credit for dual enrolled courses taken at the high school. Her question is, will the credits awarded by his first school for the APs and dual renrolled courses automatically transfer to his new school or will the new school review his high school transcript and AP scores and award credit following their own guidelines, 5s on all tests for credit vs 4s at his first school? Any insight will be greatly appreciated, my friend is very worried and her son is so overwhelmed he is the best source of information

The only people who know the answer to this question are the people in the registrar’s office at the institution the student wants to transfer to. Your friend needs to ask them specifically about their policy.

Thanks, that was my suggestion to her also. She said she wanted to let her son handle this on his own, just wanted to know, in general, how does that work.

The new college will transfer AP and college credits based on its own institutional policy.
