Ap Econ looked down upon?

Hey guys, is ap Econ looked down upon by colleges as a class that is too easy (like ap psych)? I mean ap Econ (macro and micro). Is ap World History looked upon better by colleges? Is ap art history looked upon better by colleges? Thanks.

Is ap comp sci looked down by colleges? Is it considered too easy like ap stats? Thanks

no AP is “looked down upon” by colleges

You’ll be rejected everywhere just for taking AP econ.

please stop if u don’t hve any meaningful advice.

There’s no reason to engage in this kind of hair-splitting. The AP electives are all equally “impressive” and you may as well just take what interests you. They’re not going to accept or reject you on the basis of which of these classes you took.

I don’t think admissions officers think that way. They want to see that you challenged yourself, and taking any AP classes is challenging yourself. For a while I was thinking about taking AP Physics C instead of AP Bio because I could and I thought it would look better on my transcript. But I don’t really like physics and I would have been miserable in that class. Will colleges look down on my application because I didn’t take the “hardest,” “most prestigious” AP? No. And I wouldn’t want to go anyplace that did. I’m taking AP Bio because I’m interested in the subject. It also happens to be challenging.

What do you want to take?

You can’t be looked down at for getting a 5 on an AP Test. Some colleges might not give you credit because it’s not up to par with their intro course, but that doesn’t harm in you any way.

But I won’t be taking the ap tests. Family had no money. I’m just taking the class. Thanks for te advice. So all of these ap classes r equally good? That’s good to hear :)

There are waivers for AP tests if your family income is low enough.

I do not think colleges spend time pondering on that… Just take what you like :D

Bumpppppppppp

Comp Sci is supposed to be much more difficult because of all the coding per MC question, though I heard that this year it wasn’t as bad and more people got 5’s on the AP exam. Macro/Micro is the class that pretty much all of the kids take at my school on the AP History/Social Science track and most go off to good schools.

As long as you’re interested in them (and it works with your senior schedule!), I say go for it. If it turns out too hard/the coursework is too much, you can always drop it.

At my school, AP Micro/Macro is supposed to be a challenging class. In fact, that’s the reason only juniors and seniors are allowed to take it. Colleges won’t think that it’s an easy AP since some of them give credit for micro/macroeconomics exams.

I actually think AP Econ is one of the harder AP tests (I took it this past year). It all depends on your learning style  AP Econ is more of a THINKING class as opposed to a memorizing class like APUSH, which I took my sophomore year, or AP Psych, which I’m taking this year.

^Yeah. That’s why some people at my school struggle because they have to really understand deep concepts…I feel like it’s a class that gets easier as you get older.
