Hi guys, long story short, I'm taking 4 AP's this year (Lang, World, APUSH and Econ) I've been wanting to switch from AP Economics to AP Psychology, however, I'm afraid that would reflect negatively on my course rigor, how big of an impact would it have? Thanks in advance.

Is that an option at your HS? The HS in our area requires an Econ course in senior year. If it’s an option at your HS, then it won’t matter which one to take.

Take whichever you want. It won’t make any difference at all.

So even if I take Psych, which is regarded as an “easy” AP, it shouldn’t affect how adcoms view my course rigor?

I disagree. Econ is significantly more difficult than Psych, especially if your Econ class covers both tests.

Self-study psych. It is a joke. (Don’t do it the night before, give yourself a week and use Barron’s.)

Whether AP Econ or AP Psych is harder isn’t really relevent. The admissions committee just isn’t weighing your schedule course by course that carefully. If your guidence counselor said your schedule was in the ‘most rigorous’ category, and you met the minimum requirements that were set for English, Math, Languages, etc…, then you are fine. The admissions people know Econ and Psych are optional (not core subjects like English and Math), and what you chose should be a reflection of who you are. Take the classes that you care about and if you have extra time as a result, put it into writing great essays or accomplishing something meaningful with your ECs.
