AP Economics for a Political Science Major?

Hey everyone, im starting my senior year of highschool Aug. 2013.

I am considering political science as a major; and I’m taking AP Comp Gov. APUSH, AP Human Geography, and AP Spanish.

As for next year, I’ve been considering AP Economics along with two other APs; AP World History and AP European History. Is it necessary to take AP Economics for a political science major? I love history, however I truly despise mathematics… but it seems as if AP Economics would somehow be related to strengthening my political science background…?

THANK YOU!

If you are hesitant about taking AP Econ because you dislike math, don’t worry. There is very little math in AP econ

Take AP Economics. It’s really beneficial and great, however it’s hard work and some people consistently struggle with the economic concepts. There’s a lot of reading and thinking involved.

And yeah, like what Syoung2 said there’s little math. In fact there are no calculators involved in the AP Exams.

I recommend reading an AP Econ study guide ahead of time. At the beginning of the year I regretted AP Econ when we started elasticity, but afterwards I got used to these new concepts. I realized how the concepts eventually work together. Good luck :)
