AP English Comp official scores

Just got mine in the mail today and got a 5 on lang.

I felt the test was really easy, but was partly expecting a 4 because I didn’t read one of the prompts correctly and wrote a letter to George Washington instead of Thomas Jefferson or something like that. Oh well - guess it didn’t matter.

I got a 4 and yes you can definitely self-study. I only had 1 semester of AP Lang and the second semester I didn’t do anything to study for it (block schedule). It was a very easy exam and I’m usually really bad at CR–really bad. The essay’s were very straightforward and I was done with lots of time. I could have gotten a 5, yes, but I didn’t really care about getting a perfect score. So for somebody who didn’t study and didn’t really try, it was a very easy test.

I received a 3…thought the MCs were not too difficult and the essays were pretty straightforward…Although I would have liked a 4, I’m still content because it was definitely a difficult class for me

^And at least it’s still passing. Better than a 2 or a 1, that’s for sure. I got a 1 on my biology exam :frowning: just happened that I studied for EVERYTHING except what was on the test… ■■■.

I got a 3. Prior to receiving my scores, I felt pretty confident that I had gotten 4 or 5. The MC portion was easy and I felt liked I aced the essays.

Got a 5 - I’m glad the MC was easy - made up for my atrocious last essay (i was tired out of my mind and it was my last AP)

AP Lang could probably be self-studied. I took the class this past year, and we barely did anything to prepare for the AP exam. At least for me, it was just like a regular English class. We read books, did some multiple choice (which were certainly harder than the AP exam), and barely wrote any essays. I still managed to get a 5 on the exam. It’s not that bad.

^^What was your last essay? I did the rhetorical one first.

I got a 4. =/ I think I got all of the MC right, so my essays must have sucked.

@r0kAng3l The one about humor. I mean I actually used south park as an example and I rambled on and on

I have never been that fried before :D

I took the Lang and got a 5 too! So, here’s my 2 cents. I agree that the MC was easier but I was getting 45/54 on the hard official practice tests, so I think I did well on the MC’s. I have to say that the essays are not entirely like the ACT or SAT essay, especially the one where you have to determine the rhetorical strategies to formulate an opinion as to what was the author’s purpose. Also, the synthesis essay is much like the DBQ, but completely different from the SAT or ACT essay as you have to cite documents etc. The third open ended arguement essay is like the SAT or ACT essay, and it gives you more room to state your point. All in all, I think the Lang test is very different from ACT Reading and English as well as SAT Writing and CR. But, that’s just my opinion. Congrats to everyone and good luck for the people who are taking the test next year!

Yeah it is definitely very different from the SAT/ACT essays except for the last one

My son took it cold (reviewed a practice test the night before) thought it was really easy and got a 5. He never took AP English in HS - only honors but figured it was worth a $43 investment to get out of Freshman English Comp in college.

Needless to say, he is thrilled with the result.

Haha I think I wrote about… hmm… Political Cartoonists (such as Dr. Suess), uhmmm yellow journalists… Idk I kinda just used APUSH info haha definitely was not my best essay, oh and I used a book… I wish we can see what we got on each essay. Like Essay #1(rhetoric)- 7 Essay #2(DBQ)- 5, etc… That would be nice.

OMG I got a 4 on the Eng Lang test and only finished one paragraph of the last Essay! How is that possible? Oh well… WOOOO! (sorry)

Probably because your other essay’s were good. Maybe if you finished your last one you probably would have gotten a 5?

I did not study, went to sleep for half and hour and still got a 4. if you are a strong english student, you don’t need to study. but I wish i’d put a little more effort into the 2nd essay question…maybe that’s why I didn’t get a 5? personally, I didn’t have to study.

Haha I used Larry the Cable guy and Kramer’s racism in my humor essay :p

Got a 5, thank goodness! I had a horrible teacher who had us do nothing but partner essays ALL year. I thought the MC was a lot easier than some of the practice tests that I took. The essays weren’t that bad, I’m pretty sure I beasted synthesis though.

hmm I liked the partner essays, but we did the twice not all year. I really don’t understand what’s SO hard about AP English. only 10 people in my class got a 4 or 5, like 20 people got 2s and 3s.
