AP English In Class Essays- Advice

Hi guys, I'm taking AP English Language and Composition this year. I was wondering if you can give me some advice on how to do well on in class essays... I particulary despise those. I would really like to score in the 7 or 8 out of 9 range... Thanks!

Bump…

Can someone please help me out?

chillbro : I am a current AP Lang student as a junior, but for my first two essays, I have written an 8 and a 9 ( rhet=#1, argument=#2)
Some advice: read lots of complex literature. Be able to use examples from all eras: basically, be a walking history/politics/econ text when you sit down so you can address any topic (from biofuels to moral wrongs). Use long, complex sentences with long voab.

Be specific and know your various rhetorical devices.

I got a five on the AP Lang Test last year and usually got 8s and 9s on my in-class essays and my advice is to stay calm. Don’t go overboard, use clear and concise language. You want to sound intelligent, not like a pompous d-bag. Don’t use giant words or make it seem like you’ve memorized the dictionary. Make sure you answer the prompt completely and match your essay to your thesis.

The CB knows that you wrote these essays under limited time, and they don’t expect them to be one hundred percent perfect.
