I didn't have good English teachers in previous years and I'm currently taking AP English Language and Composition because I wanted to challenge myself. However, I'm finding it really difficult. I don't want to drop the class but I also don't want to do poorly in the class and/or get a low AP score. What can I do to improve? Are there any specific study guides that are good? I have a CliffNotes book but I haven't really looked through it yet...

Is your current teacher good? That matters more than anything, in my opinion. I learned how to write essays in 8th grade, then in 9th and 10th grade I had an english teacher who made me challenge myself so little that I’d say my writing actually got worse. Now, as a junior, my writing is phenomenally better just because of my teacher. (I write 8s consistently).

Just stick with the class. That’s the reason why they have people take the AP English classes before the tests, so they can learn to write better essays.
