I sign up for classes tomorrow and I can't decide between AP English Language and AP US History. I know for a fact I will be doing AP Biology and I need another AP. At my school, juniors are only permitted to take 2 AP classes since they are yearlong and we only have 4 classes a day.

AP English; I am a pretty good writer, not the best. Made 96+ in all of my previous English courses. I'm not all that interested in English but I want to become a better writer.

AP US; Very good at history, 99+ in all of my previous courses. But History bores me to death.

Any ideas? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I’d say go with AP English. It is preferable you demonstrate excellent writing skills for colleges. Especially since history kind of bores you more than English, it is always a safe bet to take the easier class in such subjects.

Yes, I’m in the Language course this year. All I can really say is that you can write a bit more to your natural style when doing synthesis and argumentative, but you should focus on practicing with the analyses, as I believe that will be my Achilles’s heel during the exam if a satirical passage. pops up.

I would choose AP English
While you are really good at history, I don’t think you should force yourself to take it if you won’t enjoy it. Writing skills and the analytical skills that come from English will be far more useful in the long run. Since there is not huge disparity in your performance in the two subjects, I think you will do well in AP English!
