AP US History vs AP English Language (clarification in post)

Alright, because of how my school schedule works, I am faced with a problem for my junior year. I can take either AP US or AP English Language, and the one I don’t take as AP I will take as honors.

Which one should I take? I enjoy both subjects. Some background is that I have taken AP Human Geo, and I’m also currently taking AP Euro. I obviously haven’t taken any AP English classes, but I definitely do plan on taking Lit my senior year (schedule frees up in 2 years).

Thanks!

Having taken both, the only thing I can offer is my own personal opinion.

I would take Lang. APUSH teaches you how to memorize; it teaches you history; it teaches you a little bit about writing short essays. Lang teaches you to write; it teaches you to analyze; it teaches you to read. I think the skills you will gain in APUSH are nothing Lang couldn’t teach you already.

Essays are about to become a big part of your life. You’ll have at least one to write for almost every school and scholarship, not to mention the SATs. Learning how to read carefully, analyze thoughtfully, and make your point efficiently will be invaluable.

I personally would choose APUSH in your scenario( I may be biased though because at our school the APUSH teacher is awesome while the ap Lang is bad). I have also heard of some people who got 4s taking the ap Lang test without the class so that is another option.
