AP English Language Review Book

I read the AP books thread, but after spending about 45 minutes searching, i gave up since the thread didn't cover this exam much. I currently have Cliffs review book, but it doesn't provide much details about essay writing. Currently, I'm considering PR, Barrons, 5-Steps, and the 'Dummies" guide.

What is the best way to improve on the writing section of the AP Exam (books / practice?), and if you know of any of those books up there, which one(s) are most helpful in improving your writing skills?

Thanks :)

All of them give you the same basic principles from what I have seen. Check them out from the library and find the one that addresses the particular area of concern. My students like different ones for different reasons, but there is no substitute for hands on help from a teacher, especially one who is also a reader.

^^ agree with PaPa H, but from what I've heard, Cliff's and PR are the better ones, although many like Barron's as well. I have the PR book - and it is pretty good at explaining what you need to know for each part of the test and how to do it.

I also have the PR review book and I'd definitely recommend it. Everything is pretty concise and easy to understand, plus I think that the sample essays they provide are very helpful. Of course, I haven't looked at any others yet, so I can't say for sure.
