So I took the AP English Comp last year and got a 5, but the AP policy only allows 8 units max and I already got the 8 from Comp. I already paid for Lit this year tho so I'm wondering if I should even bother taking it? It's long and painful and I won't get any credit for it...

true, you've already got the 8 for comp, and true, you can't get any more units. and you can't score any better than you did.
i got a 5 on comp as well but scored worse on lit.
...if only i'd known i didn't have to suffer...

maybe you can get a refund?

ya i don't think i'm going to unless the provisional admission contract says i have to take all ap tests or something, which i didn't see on there. even if i take it it's still a waste of money considering i don't get any credit for it...

u actually don't have to take it, as it's not required to take all the ap tests you're in the classes for

ok cool, I was going to call them today just to make sure. i'm pretty sure i'm not doing it.

get a refund and don't take it. this is exactly what i did last year.

is it too late to get a refund? and how?

i don't remember exactly. but i remember getting a refund for 40$. Ask your school finance office.
