AP English Literature (comments after test)

Yeah. July 1 by phone, right? I'll be sure to log on to CC to let you know how I did.

The funny thing is I heard that she actually did send in the wrong transcript for one person. Of course, it was to a state school, so not as bad as it could have been... but all of us smarties still did all our own apps. =)

I'm glad someone told me that language is harder NOW, haha. Actually it does make me feel better about lit.

MC - Loved it. Looooooved it. I was really paranoid about it before the test started, since MC has always been my weakness during in-class practice tests. I was so relieved when I saw the passages, though. Love.
FR 1 - My teacher actually went over them (the exact thing!) at the beginning of the school year, but I completely forgot a lot of what we discussed. Blah. If I remembered and applied to it, I could've scored an 8. But that's okay, though, since I think I still kicked its butt. Probably a 7.
FR 2 - I could totally relate to that. Hahaha. I think that's what saved me, personal experience. After reading responses on here, I think I totally went with a separate direction. But, I feel that I've fully supported it, so I'll probably [hopefully] get a 7 on this as well.
FR 3 - It was.. eh. Could've been better, but could've been worse. Maybe a 6?

To the first poster and Kelly05...I wrote about The Awakening too. They should've specified if they didn't want us to.

I know, seriously. If they didn't want us to write about the AWakening, then they should have told us.

Did no one else use Huck Finn? I thought tons of people would use it- it fits perfectly. The only problem with that last question is that there isn't a whole lot you could say without summarizing too much. I need to get a 4 for credit, and I think I pulled that off so I'm happy.

I almost used Huck Finn, but I didn't remember enough details... Catcher in the Rye came really close too, except for the conformity part didn't work.

MC - :( i never do well on this. NEVER. i felt good about the last two passages, okay about the second, and i hated the first even though i caught that it was sarcasm. hopefully i didn't get more than 20 wrong.
FR 1: I did what the prompt told me to do and spent the most time on this essay. I felt really good about it and hopefuly got a 7-9.
FR 2: I had gone over this story a few times in my Creative Writing class and was laughing hysterically that it was on the test. I wrote about irony and picked out some good literary devices but I had terrible organization so it's probably going to be a 6-7.
FR 3: I think I faired very well on this. I think I'm the only one so far that used The Scarlet Letter, but I think I got a 7-8 on this.

I know that if I was just a little bit better on the multiple choice I'd probably get a 5, but I worry and I think my score will be somewhere in the 3-4 range. I'll be really sad if I get a 3 though. :(

Yep I did Huck Finn, with very little summarization. I mainly discussed Huck's points of view on religion, and how society attempted to skew his morals but he was able to resist and think independently deep down inside. Then I used a paragraph to discuss the cyclical nature of his dyanamicism. How he goes from conformist thinking, to nonconformity, only to return to conformist thinking once more, thus symbolizing the ability of mankind to fall back into conformity.

1984 all the way

I deleted four posts for pushing the limit on allowable discussions. Please review the stickied warning message,

Thank you for your cooperation.

MC: One of the passages, I either got the idea or bombed it. I don't know. Otherwise, I feel pretty confident.. but with these MC's you can never tell.

FR: I think all of mine were decent. My writings were mostly short, but I think - hope - I got the idea across. I'm a bit worried about my sloppy writing though. Especially on the last essay, I started to rush. About when I finished my second essay, I saw the kid in front of me just casually sitting back and stretching..(he finished his essays with about 50 mins. left over.. what the heck!?) Yeah, basically started panicing from then on, and my writing is just on the verge of legible.

that's right trinity, you tell them what's up! haha :)

My writing becomes illegible by the middle of the second essay. I walked out of that room with my hand clenched up like some kind of deformed claw thing, it still hurts and I have to do APUSH tomorrow =(

I thought the test was a lot easier than expected, but i'm not sure if I actually answered the second FRQ fully. Yay invisible man!

Yep, same here, Kelly..

I wish so, so badly we could type it somehow. I type much faster, and the cut/paste feature would help organize the essay big time.

Haha, yeah, I hear that too. I never figure out my thesis until the second paragraph so I end up scratching out most of the intro paragraph and rewriting it in the margins =/

MC: easier than I expected.

1st prompt: I think i actually ended up doing pretty well on this
2nd prompt: *** SO SHORT!!!! I had no idea what to say!!!
3rd prompt: BEST PROMPT EVER!!! We studied the prompt book and like, 5 of them on the list. HURRAH!

Edit: I used A Doll's House. Worked wonderfully.

how is ap lit scored

i did their eyes were watching god too! i feel really good about it
