I know there’s one free response question where you have to incorporate a literature book. The only one that I’ve ever read or at least SORT OF remember is Pride and Prejudice. I read the book once, years ago, watched the movie and the series. And that’s it.
(and i’ve never taken a literature class…well maybe in middle school where I read a bunch of shakespeare and Edgar Alan Poe, Jane Eyre, Great Gatsby, (all those sorts of books) but my memory is blank…as in I have no recollection of them, except for Gatsby)
Well anyways. I decided instead of self studying for AP Bio, to just focus on the two English exams.
What do you suggest I do for this exam in particular?
Try reading a book? I mean, it’s a test on literature, so reading literature would seem to be key. You might reread Jane Eyre–it improves with a second reading, as most lit does–but there are lots of books to read, and some of them you might actually enjoy. What kinds of stories do you like? Read those.
The more you read, the better of a writer you become. Seriously, you don’t have to study them or anything, it just happens. Reading spark notes could work sometimes but I suggest reading
Are you self-studying for the lit exam? You should read more. But not just that. You should really delve deeper into the books that you do read. Don’t use spark notes all the time because it doesn’t help you develop the critical thinking skills that are crucial to this class. But use it to refer to every once in a while, to make sure you’re on the right track in terms of understanding and thinking about the text. It can help guide you.
But really reading is the main thing. Also if you want to practice analysis and critical reading skills in literature, read poems as well-- that way you would be focusing on a short blurb–but really, really dive into it and analyze Every. Single. Thing. Analyze, analyze, ANALYZE. Just be really involved with the text/poem/passage. There are many resources out there, just google!
