AP Euro and Bio: difficulty?

So I self-studied AP macro/micro and stats in grade 9 because i was bored, and pulled 5s on all three.

my school doesn't offer any APs, so next year (grade 10) I want to self study AP bio and euro, as i'll be taking grade 10 history and grade 11 bio along with them.

could anyone give me a relative measure of the difficulty of euro and bio vs economics and stats? i realize economics and stats is generally considered very easy, but are euro and bio that much harder? even if i'm taking 10 history and 11 bio at the same time?

thanks :)

AP euro and AP bio are much, much, much, much, MUCH harder than econ or stats.

Having said that. The problem with AP Bio is the crapton of information you have to learn; if you were bored enough to self-study three APs freshman year, you will do just fine with that. I would really reccomend that you not self-study any history APs though. The hardest part of AP Euro by far is the essays, and essay writing isn’t something that you really can self-study effectively.

so is stats easy cause im taking ap euro next year
im also probably going to self study ap world history
and am thinking about self studying ap stats

@sohai

yeah, stats is pretty cake. it’s barely mathy, since graphing calculators are allowed and all formulas are provided.

@amarkov

alright, thanks. didn’t think about the essay writing part of history. i guess i’ll do bio then.

are there any other self-studyable APs that are harder than econ/stats, but not impossible? i want to challenge myself a bit.

AP Psychology… not hard, but a respectable self-study AP.

recommend u to take AP Euro if u take the AP World History and AP US History class. APWH helps you with the DBQ more than the APUS. APUS helps you with the other two essay questions for AP Eur

Do Bio - its a science so all you will need to do is memorize terms and how the relate to one another without much development

i did bio and world sophomore year. I got a 4 on bio and a 5 on world.
they were self studies by the way. so i’d say its totally doable.

OP, I shall take a moment to marvel at the glory of your achievement of 3 5s as a Freshman self-studying because your careful nonchalance indicates that was your intended response. Oh excuse me. You were just trying to “show that you could handle the workload”. Sorry. Moving on.
The difficulty of one subject over another is almost entirely dependent on your personal strengths and weaknesses. Not being psychic, I cannot give an accurate answer to that question. My apologies.
Oh and self-studying those APs is not impossible. You will not die. And I would be careful taking advice from complete strangers that know nothing about your situation. Not that they don’t make good points, the ap euro essays are fairly difficult. But depend more on your self-knowledge when making this decision than others’ experiences. Someone may have taken all 37(?) APs and lived to tell the tale but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for you. And sorry to be so…snotty. But these kinds of posts have really been getting under my skin lately.
Oh, I should just ignore them and maybe they’ll go away. Right, I’ll try to remember that.
Good luck. You’ll do fine I’m sure.

so do you think if i take ap euro ill be ok for the world history essays for self studying

Well, thanks UVa. I know no one can accurately give me a picture of how hard each exam is, but at least now I know that euro has a big essay component (which im pretty weak at).

but thanks for…another viewpoint on this? :P

so i guess i’m just going to do bio and perhaps psychology.

thanks everyone :)
