Hey guys. I'm currently a Sophomore in High School taking AP European History. This class is like no other that I've taken before. The rate at which the class is being taught and the immense pressure to do well is really getting to me. I'm an all honors student but this one class is stressing me beyond the point of being sane. I've had many meltdowns already and it's so early in the year. My family says they think it's a good idea to drop the class since it's effecting me so negatively; yet, my fellow peers are encouraging me to forge on through. My concerns are if the class progressively gets more challenging throughout the year and I can't handle the pressure as it is, how will I be able to deal? Along with that, I struggle in other subects at school as well; meaning I regularly have homework in other classes and fret over them.
I'm torn between dropping the class and being a happier person overall, or making my through what appears to be an intense and difficult year. I'm so worried about not being ready for college and being deemed "dumb" and a "quiter" in the eyes of my friends. My mother has already emailed the teacher and councelor and I have the form to drop, I just need to make my final choice.
Help is much appreciated!

Give a month or so more, you may find you get better at working faster or that the work load will drop off. I have a number of teachers who like to pile on the work at the beginning of the year just to get you working.
It’s good to do things every so often which push you past your normal boundaries, but if it continues to effect your other classes I suggest dropping it.
