You are sure you can win intel? Go get an internship at a lab like… feel what its like to work in a lab afterschool for three years till as late as 3 am… You already won national and internation competitions?

Whats the point of asking us if you can get in if you are already sure you can get in… people can dream I guess.

Whats the point of asking us if you can get in if you are already sure you can get in… people can dream I guess.
Yes I’m sure! and I don’t get your whole thing about an internship… Also yeah national but it was in middle school so it really doesn’t even matter.

First of all I’m not sure of anything no one is! But I am sure that I can have a good chance! and Second I am one of those weird people who respond to people’s negative comments about me To explain this I guess I would just have to say I love competition and when people doubt me and stuff I look at it as such (competition to prove them wrong)

Yes that’s just how I roll lol

And work you butt off trying to make your dreams come true like me PS THANK YOU! (hope you weren’t being sarcastic)

Legacy no affirmative action…YES! The best kind too! I’m black! (BAHAHA I love how I worded that)

… If you don’t have an internship don’t even dream of winning intel… it’s an ACTUAL science competition… not like those in middle school at all…

Also, i’m 99.99% sure that cb0610 was being sarcastic…

JUST WATCH ME WIN!!! and duhh I know he was there is like almost no one on CC (epically those who post in the Ivy League stuff) are encouraging, most of them try to add logic to every little thing they can and discourage others while at the same time promoting themselves, which is very pathetic I might add…

Two things 1. Grades are not everything DUHH!! Dummy! 2. Don’t discourage yourself like that! Who said that you won’t? Honestly it doesn’t even matter because they don’t decide! :)

There are people who work on this project for three years reading review papers, articles, and learning their subject working in REAL research labs and thinking of a REAL experiment for REAL issues who don’t even win… Don’t talk about it as if its so easy.

Also, if you consider people on CC pathetic, don’t ask. Keep believing in your dreams and fantasies… Go play some Robot Unicorn Attack or something.

If you are saying grades aren’t everything, why do you even start a topic asking if your grade is important. Btw, who is “they”?

Hmm this may be true but that really doesn’t matter that much if you have to knowledge to do it yourself plus you are only allowed to talk about current year’s work while briefly talking about other years…and duh I know it’s not easy I just don’t want to be one of those people who are like “Well they do this this and this why should I even try?!”

ALSO I said the people on CC who discourage others and promote themselves like there is no tomorrow are pathetic no everyone. I have actually met some nice people on CC. and lol what does a game I never have played have anything to do with my intelligence?

They are important but not everything! And “they” are the people who told him/her that they couldn’t get in!

Well, you DO need a mentor recommendation form with the institute you worked in along with documentation on that lab…

There is only so much you can do without proper training in techniques and using equipment. Do you have mass spectrometers or french presses available to you?

I don’t even understand what you are saying here. If you can’t even have people understand what you are saying it’ll be pretty hard to write a best-seller.

It sounds like you just want people to say “YOU CAN DO IT!!” rather than others who don’t believe in your ability. Especially because you are undermining those who actually write and work on projects because you say that you can ALL of those things. Also, play the game and you’ll know what I mean :).

Also, you just answered your own question by saying that they aren’t everything. Again, no point in starting the topic then. People get that information from statistics of people who HAVE been admitted…

No i wanted people to be like “well thats a major set back but you could possibly do _______” Or something productive. How am i undermining them?! And no thanks i think will pass sounds like something I won’t enjoy.

Not once did people give an actually speck of evidence so yeah idk where you are getting that from.

Not all science competitions are the same. I admit that you do not have to work in a lab, but you need documentation of the institute where you mentor works and still have to fill out the necessary paperwork. Also, I said that because most of the entries have worked in a lab.

From Intel STS Rules 2011:
“Intel STS recognizes the independent research of student investigators. Work submitted by the student scientist should be of her or his own design and execution, and presented in his or her own words. Frequently Intel STS applicants do research within the context of the laboratory.”

Please look at the average SAT score and GPA from your school about statistics. Most schools have the average GPA and SAT score from your school that got in so that you can compare, because GPA varies widely depending on school.

You are undermining them by saying that you can make a best-seller and win the major science competitions easily…

Btw, you asked “*Should I just give up on my dream schools?”
And they said yes.

Everyone from my school goes to college so that would be pointless and plus this is out first year of someone apply to an Ivy. And they failed to support it with evidence

How can they give evidence… it varies with school. They are just saying in general but statistics wise overall, your SAT is very low and it is obviously very hard to get into an ivy with a low grade.

DUH! Its low it was a practice just to see what it’s like. and obviously my grade is coming up in fact it is passing now and soon it will be even higher plus I do have next semester
