What do you think will show up on the FRQ part of the 2012 AP European History Exam?

My teacher said a hint at her conference was “post-atlantic economies”

Post-Atlantic economies? As in, after Atlantic trade? :/

Hey it would really help if you answered this. By post atlantic, could they mean, post- atlantic conference? I think this because I know that it affected many of the WWII powers’ economies.

My teacher listed:
-Reformation
-Henry vs. Luther
-German/Italian unification
-Interwar years (between WWI and WWII)
-Post-1945 Europe
-Analyzing paintings

ok flashprism, did your teacher go to a conference and hear about those, or is he/she just assuming these topics may be on it?

FRQ’s scare me the most. For the past 10 years, Women and Communism have been on the test, so I would assume those would be the things to study.

My teacher predicted imperialism – If that’s true, I’m screwing myself over, because I hated/didn’t have time to study for that unit in class. LOL … I’ll catch up hopefully though :)

And nerdlyfe , that’s another possibility my teacher put out there. The economy is viable, as it is currently a huge issue. (i.e. in the summer, everyone was talking about the Euro Crisis.)

Doubtful that post 1945 Europe would show up - I had that as an FRQ on last year’s exam, and the average score for that FRQ in particular was pitifully low, like <2 points.

My teacher predicted there would be something about Russia, women, and Ireland, although that’s pretty general and also she’s just guessing.

I’m honestly hoping something with Germany or Russia. Any updates on specific Qs?

Anything BUT Russia please. HRE/Germany is way more easier than Russia IMO.

Today I look at FRQ trends over the past years. Items such as the Renaissance, Enlightenment, etc. have appeared, but here are some of the commonly overlooked topics that have appeared:

Witchcraft (2002, 2005B)

Nationalism (2002, 2003, 2004, 2009B)

Russia and the Soviet Union (2003, 2005, 2007, 2007B, 2008, 2011, 2011B)

Effects if the 30 Years’ War (2003B, 2009)

Industrial Revolution (2003B, 2005B, 2007, 2011)

Women’s History (2004, 2004B, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009B, 2010, 2010B)

Dutch Golden Age (2004B, 2007B)

Unification of Germany and Italy (2007, 2008B)

Discrimination (2006B, 2008, 2008B)

Population Trends (2001, 2008)

Art and Architecture (2002B, 2003B, 2004B, 2006, 2006B, 2007B, 2009B, 2010B)

Also, some things to note…
- There are many compare/contrast essays that I didn’t really look over too well.
- Almost every Enlightenment essay has either asked about women’s roles in the Enlightenment or Romanticism vs. Enlightenment.
- No FRQ centered completely around the French Revolution has appeared since the 2009B version.
- Politics, economics, and art/architecture are VERY common essay topics.
- Specific works (literary, artistic, musical) are often asked for on essays.
- Historically, World War II has generated very few FRQs. The effects of it, however, are common essay topics.
- Scientific Revolution is a somewhat common topic, appearing on the 201, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2010B, and 2011B tests.
- The biggest things I’ve noticed in essays is they ask for trends. Instead of asking for the battles of war, they will ask for the causes or effects in a certain context. It is important to know political, economic, religious, social, intellectual, artistic trends (PERSIA). On a side note, these 6 categories are really easy to make into into grouping for DBQs (for example, a grouping of religious viewpoints).

^ If the FRQ’s about witchcraft, I am SCREWED, lol.

It’s tommorrow guys! I’m not sleeping tonight (Not at all.) Who else is cramming with me at this point? I’m praying to God K. himself that I will recieve a 5. Otherwise? I die. Euro’s my favorite subject.

@DesiCollegeGal

I’m cramming too! Not planning on sleeping much either, which isn’t so great 'cause I haven’t slept at all this week (have been cramming for other APs). Also, German just HAS to be on the same day as Euro. Gah.

@toystoryfan

Thanks for that list, that’s really helpful.

There’s nothing really about Witchcraft… just that a lot of divorced, widowed, and old women were accused of being witches.

Seems like I am not alone in cramming. Less than 24 hours lets do this.

anyone think that imperialism might be an frq?

^possibly.

Hey guys, cramming can be effective but ineffective as well. You have no idea how much you can misinterpret questions just because you are sleepy. Cramming can be one of the worst things to do (considering you do not sleep). I am going to study up to about 11, 12 at the most and study the rest in the morning. Good luck guys!

Dkdjsfksfksfjskdfjksdfdsknfksjf … IT’S 5 HOURS AWAY PEOPLE!!! D=

Holy crap … I’m nervous beyond reason.
