AP European History Study Thread!

I need to find some good questions before I post! If you have any good question(s), then just post away!

What intellectual, cultural, political, diplomatic, social, and economic themes occur during the Renaissance?

Define Renaissance Art:

Who were the major Renaissance artists?

What were theimportant artworks from the Renaissance?

I've been looking all over for this thread. Nobody's studying?

Dang, I suck at the Renaissance.

i suck at everything lol.

Ah, things are coming back to me...

Raphael, School of Athens
Michelangelo's David
Da Vinci, Mona Lisa? (not sure about that)
Brunelleschi (sp?) and that place he painted... can't remember
Masachio (sp?) - and is it Tribute Money? All these dang painting names and stuff... I'll look over them right now

Intellectual: Humanism, individualism
Political: city-states dominated by merchant oligarchies (now this one I just straight memorized)
Diplomatic: ?
Social: Family center
Economy: Expansion of trade I guess

Next: Name direct and indirect causes of the Protestant Reformation.

Go to bed guys.

direct: sale of indulgences by Tetzel to build the St. Peter's Basilica, question of salvation by Martin Luther, salvation through faith alone, the excommunication of Luther leading to the wars of religion as well as the Schmalkdic Wars, Thirty Years War and the peace of Augsburg and Westphalia. Priesthood of all believers and the printing press.

indirect: corruption within the church, the Great Schism, absentism, pluralism, desire for German princes to gain more power and prestige (this could be direct?!).

next: Name the causes and impact of the Industrial Revolution, and the Second Industrial Rev.

it's only 9 here on the West Coast

FIRST I.R.
Causes: Agricultural Revolution freed up peasants which meant greater workforce, excess capital to invest, govt was open to private enterprise
Impact: Greater transportation, iron so better buildings I guess but exploitation of workers and deteriorating environment, many rural people migrated to the cities

SECOND
Causes: I'll think about this
Impact: Electricity, new knowledge about chemicals, steel as a replacement for iron, continuing migration of population to urban areas

Next question (i'm stumped on this one): "The essential cause of the French Revolution was the collision between a powerful, rising bourgeoisie and an etnrenched aristocracy defending its privileges." Assess the validity of this statement as an explanation of the events leading up to the French Revolution of 1789

correct, but the aristocracy was also influenced by the Enlightenment and renounced their privileges.

the aristocracy: was extempt from most major taxes, blocked Louis XIII's use of parlements to raise additional funds.

bourgeoisie: agitated for greater political rights. abbe sieyes "The Third Estate" equal taxation, vote by head. the enlightement espoused the idea of natural rights for each citizen. majority of the French people.

the class struggle between the aristocracy and the desire for equal political rights influenced the bourgeoisie and the working class to demand further reform --- leading to the french Rev.

next: this one's hard for me :(

analyze the way in which society was changes as a result of the ideas contained in the Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels.
