AP Exam Grades

Do grades on AP Exams (or IB Exams, my school offers both courses) matter a lot in the admissions process? Or are they mostly used as “tiebreakers” or for determining placements?
(I had straight A’s in the courses, but I got a 4 on the european history exam and a 3 on the english lit exam :frowning: )

Well I have the opposite...I have like Bs in the class, but like 5s on the exams.

yeah i have the same problem... good grades in the AP classes.. but i have a 3 in european history.. ughh whyyy didnt i study?!?!.. do you think it will hurt?

You do not have to report your AP exam grades. If they are good, by all means let the colleges know. If they are not so good, don't mention them.

ohh yeah...thanks!

Hey, sorry about hijacking a thread, but can good AP scores (5) off-set like 690 SAT subject test scores. I just thought I'd ask while we were on the topic of the impact of AP.

no problem, thats a really good thing to know. thanks alot!

My transcript shows my three AP grades, so I didn't bother with sending an AP report. Do you think their appearance on my transcript will suffice for if they care at all about my three 5s?

They want your official score report, too.

But what would be the use of sending them, since their purpose is to grant you credit, and you haven't even gotten in yet?

Their purpose isn't just to give you credit. Since APs are in theory "college level classes" and the exams are in theory "college level exams," it's reasonable for the college to want to see how you did in the classes and how you did on the exams.

How do you send AP scores? I just tore collegeboard apart and I can't find it.
