AP Exam Scores

Okay, so after listing your AP exam scores on Common App, do you still need to send the scores to the colleges that you are applying to? I heard from some sources that you should only send the scores after you are accepted to get credit.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm not sure how they would verify that you actually got those scores if you don't send, but sending them is very expensive. (Somewhere around $15 per score test, so if you have 4 tests, that's $60 to send them to one college)

And no, my school does not send AP scores with the transcript.

Thanks

From what I have read, it doesn’t really matter whether they verify the scores or not because AP scores have no direct weight in admissions.

Most colleges will address this on their website - you will find that they generally say, you can self-report your AP scores if you want to, but you do not have to have them officially sent. Once you are matriculating, you need to send them in to get credit and to help with placement.
