<p>I checked CollegeBoard for Columbia's AP exam policy, but the link led to an erroneous page. Could someone explain to me what the policy is instead?</p>

<p>In most cases, a 5 on an AP exam will qualify you for credit in an intro level class, so long as you successfully complete the next level class, i.e. a B or better. This is the general rule. Of course, there are exceptions. A 4 on the AP Chemistry Exam will qualify you for the placement exam (although apparently anyone who even wants to take intro to chemistry has to take a placement exam) and if you do well on the placement, you will get the credit after completing the next sequence of courses.</p>
<p>In the languages, you don't need AP. You can test out of all 4 required semesters of a language through the placement exam.</p>
<p>In some other classes, a 5 or 4 will automatically get you the credit. For me, I received credit for 2 out of the 3 intro to poli-sci classes.</p>
