AP Exams 2011!

@ nicksyn
Def do AcaDec!! It’s an amazinggg experience that you will not regret. I do not know what i would do without it because I have gotten so much out of it (plus it’s a lot of fun  ). Plus if you do AcaDec it will not be that much more work to do the AP Econ tests bc of the econ event. I took AP micro and macro this year and although I had to additionally study for them Decathlon gave me a great background, I’m predicting a 5 on micro and a 4/5 on macro.

How about self-studying for AP Gov? I have taken AP US and I’m almost positive about a 5. Gov just looks interesting and I didn’t know if self-studying it would be a good idea. Which gov would be better to study?

@flaucinauci - hmm that kinda bursts my bubble haha but thanks for letting us know! Which books did you use?

@ puggly - haha hi again from the APHuG thread

-AP Classes-
Physics C
Calc BC
Chemistry
English Lit
Gov/Eco.

-Possible Self Studies-
Euro History
Env.Sci
Biology

English Lit
Calc BC
Bio
World History
Computer Science

My school doesn’t do self studies, at least not that I know of.

@ actionroad
it’s not a school thing. You just study for them and then you ask your guidance counselor to take the test. Almost all schools that offer AP classes will let you take the tests unless they are concerned about you messing up their ranking

Senior:

AP Calc AB
AP Eng Lit
AP Bio
AP Gov
AP Stats

No self studies. I want to enjoy senior year as much as possible.

Next year (junior)

In school:
APUSH
AP English Lit
AP Bio
Honors Spanish IV (they wouldn’t let me skip to AP Spanish even though Spanish IV is a joke and I can already pass the tests…)
Honors Theology III (required, Catholic school :frowning: interesting but essentially useless)
Honors Pre-calc
Study

Self studies:
Macro
Micro
Environmental (goes well with AP Bio I’ve heard?)
U.S. Gov & Politics (goes well with APUSH?)

Those four are easy self-studied from what I’ve heard. I have a interest and macro and micro for whatever reason, and the other two go hand in hand pretty well with what I’m taking.

Only problem is I’ve never self-studied before. I can manage my time really well and I’ll have free time over the summer to learn everything the first time around, but I’m still a bit apprehensive. Any advice?

Seeking Uni - self-study APHG, take a more useful/not-wasting time courses.

@sophomore120164 I used Barron’s, which is supposed to be the best out there for the sciences. I’m 100% sure that Gov is a wayyy easier self-study than Physics, but idk exactly how easy. If you’ve had a Civics course and APUSH, you’re pretty well-prepared, I should think.

Senior Year:

AP Psychology (class)
AP Calculus AB (class, but took the exam already; reason for taking it: need a senior math class and no BC class)
AP Microeconomics (class)
AP Japanese Language and Culture (class)
AP Biology (class)
AP English Literature and Composition (class)
AP Physics C: Mechanics (self-study)
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism (self-study)
AP Human Geography (self-study)
AP Environmental Science (maybe self-study if I want to)
AP Macroeconomics (self-study)

Classes:
AP Lit
AP Calc BC
AP Stats

Over the summer: AP CS A

Self:
AP Physics C (starting over the summer)

I was going to self-study AP econ, but…I don’t think it’d be very wise.

Freshman Year:
AP World History (class)
AP Computer Science A (class)

Sophomore Year:
AP English Language (class)
AP US History (class)
AP Calculus AB (class)

Junior Year (this year):
AP US Government and Politics (class)
AP English Literature (class)
AP Environmental Science (class)
AP Biology (class)

Senior Year:
AP Spanish (class)
AP Statistics (self-study)
AP Calculus BC (self-study)
AP Macroeconomics / Microeconomics (self-study maybe)

I’m definitely taking at least 7 next year (my senior year) which are all classes:
Physics B
English Literature and Composition
Calculus BC
Spanish Language
US Government and Politics
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics

I don’t know if I should self-study any because I’ll be a senior year but I’m really interested in European History and Art History. If I take those 9 senior year, my total count will be at 18.

Senior year:
Chemistry
Calc AB
English Lit

Senior year…
AP Physics B. (and Physics C-self study).
AP English Lit.
AP Economics (Macro and Micro).
AP Calculus BC.
AP Gov (US and Comparative).
AP Psychology.

I really hope and expect Calculus BC and Psych to be a breeze :].

AP Comparative Gov is AWESOME! I LOVED it!!!

Junior: (this year)
AP U.S. History
AP Chemistry
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics

Senior year:
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics C - Mechanics
AP Physics C - E & M
AP World History
AP Statistics
AP Comparative Government
AP English Lang

I may drop E & M, Stats, or World. Probably end up w/ 6 APs instead of the 7 listed.

Calculus BC (class)
Physics C: Mechanics (class)
Physics C: E&M (class)
Biology (self-study)
Chemistry (class)
Statistics (class)
Environmental Science (self-study)
Psychology (self-study)
Comparative Government (self-study)
US Government (self-study)
Human Geography (self-study)
English Literature (class)
US History (self-study, took an honors class last year)
World History (self-study, took a western civ class)

It’s going to be a tough year next year… I’m probably going to want to die by the end! I really want the National AP Scholar award though!!

Calc BC
Bio
Lit
Possibly Macroecon

all in class, but i’ll probably only take the BC test for money reasons

OMG, salve!!! You’re taking 14 in ONE year???

^ It’s not impossible. I’ve taken 10 this year and I didn’t start my self-studies/outside classes (9) until December (Biology - the other 8 in February). If he starts in the summer then it’s definitely doable.
