This year as a Sophomor- AP World History

Next year as a Junior- AP US History and AP English

Year after next as a Senior- Possibly 7 AP’s, but no less than 5

just to make sure: ap exams are only in may, right?

Wow, they’re changing the days the exams will be held on. That’s very interesting. It looks like the Stat kids will get an extra week :o

^^Yes, they are solely distributed in May.

^ thanks!
10char

Wooooooot this works out perfectly…
Chem on Monday…
Computer on Tues…
Calc BC on Wed…
then next week US gov on Tues…
English lang on Wed…
and then Macro on Thurs!
No Multi-AP days for me, that would SUCK!
Feel sorry for all you guys will 3+ AP’s in one day haha XD

Though my school doesn’t offer APs, the content covered in regular classes is pretty much the same or tougher than AP classes. So here’s a list of what I’m going to take. I think you guys/girls are going to be freaked out and call me crazy but I’ll try!

Covered by classes:
Chemistry
Physics B
Physics C: Mechanics
Physics C: E & M
Calculus BC
Statistics
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
English Language

Self-study:
Art History
Biology (Did about 80% of the material in Frosh and Soph years)
Chinese (Native speaker)
Environmental Science (Did about 60% of the material previously)
Human Geography (Did about 60% of the material previously)
Psychology
U.S. History
World History

Okay yes, that’s 17. I’m trying to make use of what’s left of my high school years to learn stuff before I specialize in something in college. And I find it fun!

Covered by classes:
-Calc BC
-Physics B
-US
-Lang
-Econ

Self Study:
-APES
-Human Geo

:I self studied Psych this year…for anyone who is taking it next year I recommend the Barron’s book. The REA book is too intricate in detail, you won’t remember too much. If you find a glossary of terms, READ IT…the Psych is primarily based upon extensive vocab knowledge

euro is exactly like the us test. same set up and everything. so i wouldn’t base your decision on euro off of world :)

AP Literature + Composition
AP Physics B
AP Calculus BC
AP Statistics (might switch this out for Econ if it conflicts with Jazz band)

I had no clue that so many people self-studied for the AP tests. Nobody at our school self-studies and I doubt they would let us. A lot of you are taking way more than I am, and I’ve taken more APs than most of my class (7). Though, I suppose I would be taking more if it weren’t for four straight years of playing in the school band.

Junior year

Classes:
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB
AP Stats
possibly AP Lit or AP Gov, I’m talking to my guidance counselor next week
European history (not AP but I’m partially self-studying)

Self-studying:
AP biology (I’m taking the class my senior year but I want to show colleges that I’m interested in biology even though I can’t take the class this year)
AP env sci
AP macro/micro economics

Yay Class of 2011! :)

AP English Literature
AP Calculus BC
AP German Language
AP Computer Science A
AP Microeconomics

^ Adding on to those, I’m thinking of self studying AP Statistics as well and potentially AP Physics C… but I’m really not sure about the last one. We shall see.

Not in one year, right? It makes no sense if you do that in one year. Why wouldn’t you do some before? Oh, and you’re mad to self-study Art History, World History, and US History. You’re also mad to do 17 APs in one year. I enjoy APs too, and will be taking 12 next year, but 17 is ridiculous.

I was also looking through the ap schedule and came up with 17 aps I wanted to do, and deemed that ridiculous. But I only have one more year left, so I won’t have the opportunity to spread them out in other years. I wanted to self-study ap chem because from what I heard, the teacher at my school gives guided notes and basically holds your hand, which I neither need nor want. So I went to her and asked if she would be willing to let me borrow a text book and lab manual and can you believe it, she refused!!! She told me that it was against school policy for me to self-study something when there was a class for it!!! I can still set something up with an ap coordinator and do it anyway, right?

Physics

I’m a sophomore this year and I may end up taking:

World History, Psych, Calculus, and Biology.

I can already tell it’s gonna be a great year…

I’ll be a junior and am (probably) taking APUS, Bio, Chem, Env. Science, Eng. Lang, and pre-AP honors physics. It’ll be a very science-y year. I might push Chem back to senior year and take Spanish instead, but I think I need another year of studying Spanish to feel comfortable in AP.

Instead of taking 17 AP Exams and doing mediocre (It will be a cold day in hell if you get a 4/5 on all 17 tests), take 3-6 and do extremely well on the exams…

I will definitely get 5 for the APs that are covered by classes because APs are almost nothing compared to my classes.

But for the following:

5s may be a bit harder.
