AP Exams for Community College

This year I am a junior in high school. Last year I earned a 3 on my AP world history exam. I will be taking AP Us history and AP language and Composition exams pretty soon. I am sure I will pass them both. I plan to go to Ohlone Community College for 2 years after I graduate from high school. I would like to transfer to UC Berkeley after my 2 year at Ohlone, if not, then I am also looking at transferring UC Davis though the TAG program.

Next year for my AP classes I will be taking Stat, Calculus AB, US Gov Politics, and Econ Macro. I was wondering if on top of those classes, would it be beneficial if I were to take 3-5 extra exams with self study on top of those 4? I was thinking Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Environmental Science, and Physics.

My question is will AP exams benefit me with the route I am going? Maybe Credit wise? Or would I be just wasting my time? I have heard of a guy who transferred to UC Berkeley after 1 year because he had enough credits from AP testing.

I found the AP credit chart for Ohlone, I plan to study a lot for these 5 exams through prep books, text books, and some classes. The AP exams will be free for me, so the only cost for me would be for the prep books.

I plan to major in business if that makes a difference in this decision.

Passing AP classes will most definitely help you transfer earlier than expected. Depending on the school, scores of 3+ will knock out classes that you need for IGETC, the general education pattern accepted for UC schools. Each test that you pass would usually give you 3 semester units. So, if you pass 10 AP exams and take 30 units in your first year, it is definitely possible to transfer in only 1 year. Of course, you can also take more units during the year to make up any missing units. 60 units is the minimum amount to transfer.

Thank you for replying. It would be great to transfer a year early.
